Coventry University
The Polish Association of Environmental and Natural Resources Economists
The  focus  of  the  fifth  international  conference  on  “efficiency,  sustainable  business  and sustainable economic development” is on issues of economic and behavioural efficiency in a multilevel context. An important issue in this discussion is what measure of efficiency should be used, as different measures of efficiency (related to different goals of different stakeholders) have serious implications for management and policy measures.  The aim of the conference is to relate theoretical considerations with practice.  We invite scholars and practitioners from different fields involved in the issue to present their ideas and research on issues of measurement, instruments and determinants of efficiency in the context of sustainable business and sustainable economic development.
  • Determinants of efficiency, different measures of economic and behavioral efficiency at  the  enterprise  level,  measures  of  economic  efficiency,  and  instruments  for increasing efficiency at the enterprise level.
  • Economic and social efficiency regarding supply chain management, sustainable energy  supply  and  transport  systems  in  the  context  of  positive  and  negative externalities.
  • Social and environmental efficiency, e.g., trade-offs and synergy effects between efficiency and corporate social responsibility, efficiency of the creation of human capital and human capabilities.
  • Institutional efficiency, e.g., in the context of economic development and transitions in economic systems or in finance and banking as a condition for efficiency in other areas,  as  well  as  assessment  of  different  economic  systems  in  a  comparative perspective.
  • Energy efficiency. Can improved efficiency solve expected problems with energy supply?  What  are  the  conditions  for  a  technological  breakthrough  in  renewable energy supply to become successful (infrastructural, institutional, company level, etc.)?
Papers, after positive review, are considered for publication in Central Eastern European Review  of  Economics  and  Management  (former  WSB  University  in  Wroclaw  Research Journal)  (8  points)  or  the  Central  and  Eastern  European  Journal  of  Management  and Economics (8 points).
